Lindsay Souvannarath, Randall Shepherd to set preliminary inquiry dates

Each faces 4 charges in alleged foiled shooting plot on Valentine's Day

The case of two people accused of plotting to open fire in a Halifax shopping mall is in court today.

Twenty-three-year-old Lindsay Kantha Souvannarath of Illinois and 20-year-old Randall Steven Shepherd of Halifax are charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Souvannarath was in court Friday, while Sheppard is expected to make an appearance via video link.

They also face charges of conspiracy to commit arson, illegal possession of weapons and making a threat through social media.

The RCMP allege the two were planning an attack at the Halifax Shopping Centre.
