Lake Banook searchers find body of missing swimmer
Halifax Regional Police say searchers found the body of a missing swimmer in Lake Banook. They are not releasing the 58-year-old man's name.
A dive team from Moncton recovered the body around 5 p.m. Sunday
Halifax Regional Police say a dive team has found the body of a 58-year-old man who drowned in Lake Banook.
His body was found around 5 p.m. Sunday after hours of searching.
Halifax police say they were called around 12:00 p.m. to help search for a swimmer who went under near Birch Cove Beach.
Fire division commander Peter Andrews says by 12:30 p.m. the rescue operation turned to one of recovery.
Andrews said Halifax Fire used two boats in the water to look for the swimmer.
An RCMP dive team from Moncton was also called in to assist.
Halifax police have not released the man's name.
