Premier Stephen McNeil's director of communication on paid leave
Premier Stephen McNeil's director of communications is off work and faces a charge of domestic assault.
Kyley Harris, 34, is on paid leave. A Liberal Party spokesperson said it was over a domestic matter and he was off the job Tuesday.
Halifax police later replied to media questions by saying a man was arrested at 8 p.m. Friday after reports of an assault on a woman he knew.
"A 34-year-old Halifax man was subsequently arrested at a separate Halifax address that same evening," said Sergeant Greg Roberston. "We are unable to confirm the name of the accused at this time as the information has yet to be sworn before the courts."
The man was released after promising to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on June 18 to answer a charge of assault.
