Kyla MacLellan pleads guilty to drunk driving in Lawrencetown crash
Lake Echo woman charged in crash that killed 55-year-old Mark Burnett last year
A 21-year-old Lake Echo woman has pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death in a head-on collision that killed a 55-year-old man near Lawrencetown Beach last year.
Kyla MacLellan pleaded guilty on Monday to impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm, according to Chris Hansen, a spokeswoman for the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.
MacLellan was driving a Honda Civic that collided with a sport utility vehicle on Highway 207 near Lawrencetown Beach in July 2013.
The July 10 crash killed Mark Burnett, who was on his way to work when the crash happened just before 6 a.m.
Two women, including MacLellan, were in the other car. Both women were ejected from the vehicle and sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Burnett was also transported to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre but was declared dead on arrival.
MacLellan will be back in court for sentencing on Aug. 27.
