Kijiji ad seeks Yarmouth to Maine ferry
After circulating on social media, the posting disappeared by Monday afternoon
Bay Ferries, the company the province chose to run the Yarmouth to Maine ferry, may not have secured a vessel yet, but someone took to Kijiji on Sunday to try and help them out.
The listing is under the heading "Powerboat and Motorboats" and starts with "Wanted: Ferry needed for Yarmouth to Maine run." It lists a price of $47,455,000.
The posting asks readers to call them if they have a "giant ferry in your yard or maybe tied up at your dock" that can "carry cars, dogs, trucks and people from Yarmouth to Maine."
After circulating on social media, the posting disappeared by Monday afternoon.
Bay Ferries was given the contract to run the ferry service last October, but has yet to find a vessel. Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan has said it's about finding one that best fits the model.
A tour operator from Connecticut has already cancelled dozens of room reservations at the Rodd Grand Hotel in Yarmouth over concerns there may not be a ferry service between Nova Scotia and Maine this summer.
The ferry is supposed to start its run in late spring. The Kijiji listing said the ferry must be blue.
