Nova Scotia has fired arbitrator James Dorsey three times in the last two days.

Leo Glavine, the health minister, first fired Dorsey on Friday. If you’re keeping score, Dorsey has been fired once over the phone and three times by letter — for a total of four times.

Thursday’s letter told him to not approach the union over the issue of re-aligning the health-care sector unions.

Glavine said he had the right to fire him. “Absolutely, because it was based on a 90-day delivery,” he said.

The health minister said he had failed to deliver a decision in three of the four bargaining units and so dismissed Dorsey.
