Man has serious injuries following dispute in Halifax's south end
Police responded just after 10 a.m. Saturday
One person is in hospital with serious injuries and another has minor injuries following a dispute in Halifax's south end.
According to a release, Halifax police say they responded to a report of a fight on Tower Road just after 10 a.m. Saturday.
Patrol officers responded and found a man "with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing."
A second man was found a few minutes later with minor cuts, the release states.
Both men were arrested.
A couple of hours later, Halifax police remained on scene taking photos of the sidewalk outside two buildings between South and Inglis streets, which were also taped off.
Mutasim Ruddro was lying in bed around 9:30 a.m. when he was awoken by loud noises outside his apartment building.
"I heard a lot of like yelling and screaming around here," Ruddro said after ducking under the yellow tape around his building. "I hope no one's hurt."
Ruddro said he didn't get up to see what had happened, but about 30 minutes later a Halifax police officer knocked on his door to ask if he'd seen anything.
He added that an incident like this is not common on the street "but things happen."
The man with serious injuries was taken to hospital. The other man declined treatment.
Police say the men are known to each other and no other suspects are being sought.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.
