Hurricane Dorian expected to impact Nova Scotia this weekend
'What I can tell you is we have to pay attention to Dorian,' says CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin
Break out the rainboots — Hurricane Dorian is expected to impact Nova Scotia this weekend.
But it's too early to tell the precise track of the storm and exactly what strength it will be when it arrives in the Maritimes, said CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin.
"What I can tell you is we have to pay attention to Dorian," said Simpkin on Tuesday morning.
The Category 3 hurricane was east of Florida Tuesday afternoon, and was expected to track up the Eastern Seaboard this week.
"After stalling over the Bahamas with devastating impacts, Dorian is moving again at 3 km/h," CBC meteorologst Ryan Snoddon said Tuesday afternoon.
He said the storm will pick up more speed later Tuesday as it tracks north.
Dorian could be a post-tropical depression, a tropical storm or even a Category 1 hurricane when it moves into the Maritime region, likely Saturday into Sunday.
An incoming trough from the Great Lakes could make a big difference on Dorian's route when it approaches Atlantic Canada, Snoddon said.
One big factor influencing whether <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Dorian?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Dorian</a> tracks into Atlantic Canada this weekend & what route it will take if it does...<br>This trough, which looks set to move into the Great Lakes on Friday.<br>Timing of Dorian and that trough will both be key.<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/nsstorm?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#nsstorm</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ATLstorm?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#ATLstorm</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/nbstorm?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#nbstorm</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/pestorm?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#pestorm</a> <a href="https://t.co/FwGiKXL5f4">pic.twitter.com/FwGiKXL5f4</a>

Dorian unleashed massive flooding across the Bahamas on Monday, pummeling the islands with so much wind and water that authorities urged people to find floatation devices.
At least five deaths were blamed on the storm.
