Halifax regional council has approved a $40,000 grant to set up a spay and neuter clinic for low income pet owners and feral cat colonies.
The vote was unanimous.
Kristin Williams, executive director of the Nova Scotia SPCA, says it’s a great day for the city's cats.
The shelter will run the clinic.Williams said the service should be up and running soon.
Individuals and rescue organizations will apply for spay and neuter bookings.
She said she expects to handle 1,000 subsidized operations a year.
