Man in hospital after Dartmouth shooting
A 33-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds
Police are investigating a shooting in Dartmouth that injured one man and put a hospital into lockdown.
Halifax Regional Police say officers were called to the 500 block of Portland Street around 9 p.m. Friday about a shooting that had just taken place.
Police say a man showed up to Dartmouth General Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds about 30 minutes later.
The hospital was then put into lockdown and police were called
"The investigation is in its preliminary stages and further information will be released when available," a police statement said.
At 1:20 a.m., Halifax Regional Police said in a release that they have cleared the area and it has reopened. They confirmed the victim is a 33-year-old man who has non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
There is no information about a suspect at this time, the release said.
It said investigators with the integrated criminal investigation division are conducting the investigation, which is in its preliminary stages.
