Police release name of woman killed in Halifax stabbing

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Chauntel Lizette MacIntyre.

Halifax police have released the name of a woman who died after being stabbed early Tuesday morning. 

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Chauntel Lizette MacIntyre.

An autopsy was conducted and the manner of death has been determined to be homicide. 

Halifax Regional Police said they were called Tuesday at 12:45 a.m. AT after a person was stabbed near Sylvia Avenue and Herring Cove Road. The woman was taken to hospital where she died. 

Police said it wasn't a random incident, but released few other details. They had closed the 500 block of Herring Cove Road, but reopened it Tuesday morning.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or who may have been in the area between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. to call them at 902-490-5020. Callers who want to remain anonymous can contact Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
