Police in Halifax are asking motorists to stay home if possible as snowfall caused several accidents across the city.

Slippery roads have caused problems and multiple crashes, said Sgt. Jeff Carr, but no injuries have been reported.

"City works crews are out, but it will take them time to cover all streets," he said Thursday afternoon.

"Motorists are reminded to adjust their driving according to conditions. Enjoy New Year’s festivities from the comfort of your home if you can!"

Halifax Transit warned its buses are running late and some are on a snow schedule.

Most of its buses were getting back on schedule as of 4:20 p.m. Check out their Twitter page for the latest details
