Halifax's new convention centre won't open its doors for another two years, but Trade Centre Limited says 30 organizations have already committed to renting out the space.

In a news release, the company said the Halifax Convention Centre will draw more than 24,500 visitors, generating an estimated $30 million in revenue.

Scott Ferguson, president and CEO of Trade Centre Limited, said national and international clients make up the list of bookings for 2017, when the Nova Centre will officially open.

CBC last reported the opening had been delayed nine months until September 2016. Spokesperson Erin Esiyok-Prime clarified staff and facilities will be moved in to the Nova Centre by the end of 2016. Doors will open to visitors, clients and events some time in 2017.

The $500 million Nova Centre will be the home to a new $164 million convention centre, a luxury hotel, as well as business and retail space.
