Irvine Carvery says he was told to leave Halifax polling station
Halifax Conservative says an election official tried to move him out of a polling station Monday
Halifax Conservative candidate Irvine Carvery says an election official tried to move him out of a polling station Monday after an NDP campaign worker complained.
Carvery said he dropped off a couple of voters at a poll at a seniors complex on Victoria Road in Halifax and was outside when he was approached by a polling official who asked him to leave.
"He had received a complaint from the NDP, I wasn't allowed," Carvery said.
Carvery was chatting with the area's MLA, provincial cabinet minister Labi Kousoulis, at the time. Carvery says as a candidate he was entitled to be at the polling station.
"As long as I'm not wearing buttons or paraphernalia," he said.
Carvery says Kousoulis intervened on his behalf, also pointing that out to the poll official.
