Fort McMurray wildfire relief concerts planned for the Maritimes

Maritime musicians are doing what they do best to help residents of Fort McMurray recover from the devastating wildfire.

In Nova Scotia, a fundraising concert has been planned for May 15 at Centre 200 in Sydney.

Artists who have confirmed include Matt Minglewood and the Barra MacNeils. Bette MacDonald and Maynard Morrison will host the event.

Tickets will be $20 each and go on sale Tuesday.

Nova Scotia rapper Classified announced Saturday he is staging a benefit concert at Halifax's Fleet Club on May 13. Fellow Nova Scotia musician David Myles will also perform. Tickets will be available Monday with a minimum donation of $25.

In Prince Edward Island, a benefit concert called FortNight has been planned for May 13 in Charlottetown.

Among the musicians lined up to play are Paper Lions, The Eastern Belles, Joey Kitson, The Wannabeez, Muddy Buddy and Vintage.

Money raised will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta wildfire relief campaign.

The concerts are just the latest announced.

On Thursday, one of Newfoundland and Labrador's best known performers, Alan Doyle, announced through Twitter he has organized a concert in St. John's for May 12.

That show at The Factory will include Tim Baker of Hey Rosetta, The Irish Descendants and HotxProxy with more performers to be added later.
