Elective surgeries, imaging resumes at Truro hospital
Part of Colchester East Hants Health Centre flooded on Monday
Elective surgeries and services for diagnostic imaging are back online following a flood at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro, N.S., early Monday.
Nova Scotia Health said in a statement Wednesday 55 procedures had been cancelled as a result of the flooding, including cataract, urology and gynecology surgeries.
Patients that had their appointments postponed are being contacted to have their procedures rescheduled.
Labour and delivery services resumed at the health centre Tuesday.
The flood was in an area where the instruments used in all surgeries performed at the health centre are sterilized.
A spokesperson for Nova Scotia Health said the flood was caused by a break in the hospital's chilled water system. There was a leak in the ceiling.
