A five-year-old boy has died after being pinned under an ATV in Scotch Hill, N.S.
Pictou County District RCMP and paramedics were called to Scotch Hill Road just after noon on Sunday.
A four-wheeled, youth-model ATV had rolled over in a wooded area and pinned the child beneath it.
The child was freed and taken to Aberdeen Regional Hospital in New Glasgow, where he was pronounced dead.
RCMP are not saying whether the boy was riding alone or with others.
RCMP Cpl. Andrew Joyce said it was unclear whether the child was wearing a helmet or other protective gear.
Joyce called the incident a "a tragic, tragic event for all involved."
Officers are still on the scene, and a collision analyst with the RCMP is investigating the crash.
