Father charged in son's shooting death

A Nova Scotia man has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of his son at their Lakeside home.

A Nova Scotia man has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of his son at their Lakeside home.

Michael Dockrill, 52, was arrested on Friday, more than three months after his son Jason was killed.

RCMP went to a house in Lakeside, a suburb of Halifax, late on June 12 after receiving a call about a break-in. Jason Dockrill was found dead.

Police were told that two men wearing masks broke into the home on St. Margaret's Bay Road. A fight broke out, and during the altercation, shots were fired by someone inside the house.

Dockrill has also been charged with criminal negligence causing death and various weapons offences. He is due in court later Friday.
