Police in the Halifax area arrested eight people and seized drugs, weapons and vehicles in a drug bust last month.
Halifax Regional Police and RCMP officers in the integrated guns and gangs unit searched homes in Lantz, Halifax, Lower Sackville and Dartmouth on July 29 and 30 after what they call a "lengthy investigation."
Seven kilograms of cocaine, including crack cocaine, and more than 28 kilograms of a cocaine cutting agent were seized.
In addition, police found an assault rifle, ammunition, a hand grenade, steroids and $15,000 in cash. They also seized six vehicles.
Eight people were arrested in total — five men and three women — ranging in age from 20 to 49. Six of them were held in custody, while two were released shortly after they were arrested.
Of the people charged, seven are facing drug trafficking charges. Four of them are facing firearms offences.
All of the people arrested have appeared in provincial court in Dartmouth.
Police said their investigation is ongoing.
