Ottawa is providing eight million dollars to the Dalhousie University agriculture campus to boost research into organic farming.

Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz visited the Truro campus Tuesday to make the announcement.

The funding comes from the federal department's "Growing Forward" program, which supports scientific research into the growing of organic food.

The university says the funding will help support two faculty of agriculture researchers, Chris Cutler and Derek Lynch.
