Convergys call centre to close

A large call centre on the Millbrook First Nations reserve, near Truro, N.S., will close on Sept. 1.

CBC News has learned that Convergys — which currently employs nearly 200 people at the Millbrook location — will close because a client is pulling their business from that particular site.

"Convergys anticipates that some employees who meet the performance and home environment requirements will be able to transition to a work-at-home position, and we will work to determine how many employees will be able to take advantage of this opportunity," the company said in a statement.

"Employees in good standing also may pursue job openings at other Convergys locations."
