"I think it was a shock for me and everyone in my organization‎ because Peter has done a lot to get our company going in our community. I work at DSME Trenton, a wind tower manufacturing facility. I've known Peter for a long time. When I went to high school we used to run races together. I've known him throughout his political career and I think he has done a lot for the community. It's sad to see him step down."

"I think he's going to be prime minister someday because he's the best. He has done a lot for the community such as Summer Street Industries which helps mentally challenged people and he followed in his father's footsteps and did excellent work."

"I couldn't care less. He's just another politician and politics is politics. But he had a pretty good track record, both him and his father. But I don't really like them. I don't like the way they go about things. Him and his father, they're both the same."

John MacDonald

"Well it's too bad. Peter has been in politics lots of years and he's well-known in the ‎area and he's well respected. It'll be a great loss to our community...the money he has brought in here and to Halifax and all the surrounding areas. It seems like every second week there's a new announcement that Peter has taken in money to do this or to do that. And he's helping to keep some of our locals at home instead of having to go out West to work."

"It's a shock. ‎Peter has been a good man. Actually, years ago before Peter was ever involved in politics, I was his baseball coach; his first baseball coach. And he was the only kid that summer who hit a home run.  Peter has done a great job. He has done a great job for the area. He's a very intelligent man. We're gonna miss him."

"I think he has done his job. Good for him. Let him enjoy the rest of his life."
