Cape Breton Regional Municipality delays spring cleaning pick up
Annual heavy garbage collection postponed for two weeks
A delayed spring means delayed spring cleaning in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
The municipality has postponed its annual heavy garbage collection for two weeks.
Roschell Clarke, the education co-ordinator for solid waste management, says collection will now begin on Monday, May 18.
"There are still piles of snow in sections of our municipality, so we want to allow people to have the appropriate amount of time to prepare for this year's collection," she said.
Clarke says, for example, that some people "won't be able to bring their barbecue to the curb on Monday because it's probably still frozen in the ground."
Residents must have their large, heavy or bulky materials curbside no later than 6 a.m. on May 18.
