The operator of the ferry between Yarmouth, N.S., and Portland, Maine, says its Sunday crossings will be cancelled due to a problem with one of the CAT's four engines.

Bay Ferries Ltd. said it is investigating a technical issue along with the engine's manufacturers.

There will be "slightly longer transit times" and more cancellations are possible, the company said in a news release.

It plans to contact customers directly.

A phone operator with Bay Ferries said the sailing from Yarmouth went as scheduled Saturday morning and the vessel will make the return trip in the afternoon before being pulled out of service.
