A woman has died after another serious collision on Highway 105 in Cape Breton, becoming the fourth fatality in the area within three days.

Sgt. Andrew Joyce said officers were called to a single-vehicle crash Thursday in Bucklaw at 2:19 p.m.

Police say the vehicle left the highway after travelling eastbound and landed in a ditch. The area was closed to traffic for almost seven hours.

On Friday, RCMP said the driver of the car, a 31-year-old woman from North Sydney, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A collision reconstruction expert visited the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

The section of roadway falls between the communities of Englishtown and Whycocomagh.
