Four suspects scheduled to appear in territorial court today

Yukon RCMP have arrested four people after a series of raids which happened late Monday afternoon in Whitehorse.

RCMP say they executed two vehicle stops — one off of the Alaska Highway at Trails North, and a second on Mountain View Drive — and later obtained a search warrant to enter a residence in the Whitehorse area which lead to the arrests.

RCMP say they seized drugs, weapons and cash.

“The arrests and drug warrant executed are the culmination of a police-wide effort to address a group of offenders in our community," read a statement released by police. "It takes a substantial amount of investigative effort to get us to the stage where arrests can be made and warrants can be obtained to enter properties and disrupt illegal activities.”

An RCMP statement says the investigation is underway and police will release no further information at this time.

The four suspects are scheduled to appear in territorial court in Whitehorse later today.
