A Yellowknife woman wants to thank two anonymous people who bought her groceries and returned her lost wallet.

Lisa Tetlichi was in the checkout line at city's downtown Your Independent Grocer Sunday evening when she reached into her jacket pocket only to find her wallet was missing.

"Panic ensued," Tetlichi recalled. "There was a line forming behind me, a two-year-old toddler screaming in her stroller and me trying to figure out where my wallet fell between our house on 53 Street and the grocery store."

As Tetlichi searched the store, a cashier approached her.

"'Oh, don't worry...this man paid for your groceries.' And I said, 'What do you mean? Oh my god, really? That's amazing.'

"What amazed me even more is that he didn't even stay around for me to thank him. I have no idea who this mystery man who paid for my groceries is. I would like to thank him."

After leaving her phone number with the grocery store, Tetlichi took a "meticulous" trek back home. About halfway there, she got a call from the store. Someone had returned her wallet.

"There it was, money inside. And again, my hero was nowhere to be found.

"They saved me from a lot of paperwork and a lot of money paying for it."

Tetlichi took to Facebook to share her story, with some commenters remarking that their faith in humanity had been restored.

Tetlichi posted her story on the popular local Facebook group Yellowknife Classifieds. At the time of publication, the post had been liked over 500 times. (Facebook)
