A construction worker was injured in Hay River, N.W.T., this week during demolition of the Don Stewart Recreation Centre.

The worker was operating a scissor-lift when the accident occurred on Tuesday but few other details are known.

A safety officer from the Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission is trying to determine what caused the accident.

The recreation centre is being demolished by Clark Builders to make room for a new one.

Earlier this month at the same site a worker accidentally cut into a pipe causing a release of ammonia gas, which triggered the evacuation of some buildings downtown.
