Board member Renee-Claude Carrier says the decision to cancel was hard.

"It was a very difficult decision and we consulted with the membership and we put it out to the public," she said.

"Due to budgetary restraints and due to capacity issues we had to make the hard decision of taking a year off."

Organizers feel cancelling next year's festival is best for the event's future. They say they plan to return with a stronger festival than ever in 2015.

They say they will still hold the occasional concert and fundraiser this winter.
