54-year-old man charged with manslaughter in death of man in Tsiigehtchic

A 54-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after a homicide in Tsiigehtchic, N.W.T., yesterday.

A 54-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after a homicide in Tsiigehtchic, N.W.T., yesterday.

Fort McPherson RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Tsiigehtchic on April 4, according to a press release.

Police found an unresponsive man who was not breathing. They say CPR was performed on the man but he was later pronounced dead.

Wayne MacDonald was arrested at the home. Police say the accused and the victim were known to each other.

MacDonald is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Territorial Court in Yellowknife on Thursday.

Tsiigehtchic is one of 10 communities in the Northwest Territories without its own RCMP detachment. Officers from Fort McPherson, about an hour's drive away, serve the community.
