Southern Yukon's snowfall to end by Wednesday afternoon
Light snow expected today in N.W.T.'s Dehcho region
Yukon outlook
After a very snowy end to the month, some relief is heading to the Yukon in the form of high pressure.
Yesterday, a low pressure system brought around 10 cm of snowfall to areas like Whitehorse, the heaviest of the snow falling in the early part of the day.
Although a few flurries could linger this morning through the south of the territory, clearing is expected this afternoon with more sunshine on the way tomorrow. A high of 2 C is forecast for Whitehorse.
Temperatures should also slowly rise through this week. It will remain cool through most of the territory today, but temperatures should rise back up to 8 C in Whitehorse by Friday.
Nunavut Outlook
Windy weather will return to the Kivalliq region today as a strong low pressure system moves in from the west. Winds will gust up to 70 km/h in areas like Rankin Inlet and Arviat, with snowfall mixed with rain in the south through the day.
Clearing conditions are expected in the Kitikmeot today with high pressure building in and after an extremely windy day in Grise Fiord yesterday (with gusts to 110 km/h), things should calm down today with gusts to 50 km/h.
The south of Baffin Island will remain cloudy and cool through the day today. A high of -3 C is forecast for Iqaluit.
N.W.T. outlook
Light snowfall is also in the forecast for parts of the Dehcho today in the NWT. A few centimetres are expected in Fort Liard and Fort Simpson this morning before temperatures warm up this afternoon.
The rest of the southern NWT will remain cloudy and cool today with light isolated showers through the communities. A high of 2 C is forecast for Yellowknife.
Further north, snowy and breezy weather will continue along the Arctic coastline with winds gusting towards 50 km/h.
