Sahtu community grills health minister about cancer rates

People in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., grilled the territory’s minister of health about cancer rates in the community at a meeting this week.

Tom Beaulieu was in town as part of his Sahtu region health tour.

People in the community said it seems more and more people are getting cancer, though the most recent statistics show cancer rates in Fort Good Hope aren't significantly higher than the rest of the Sahtu or the N.W.T.

Residents are most concerned about the possibility of contaminants in the Mackenzie River.
