Resolute, Nunavut, man, 38, faces weapons charge after standoff

Police say the standoff last Thursday ended peacefully and a 38-year-old man was arrested without incident.

A 38-year old man is facing weapons-related charges after a two-and-a-half hour standoff in Resolute, Nunavut, last week.

Police say they responded to a call about a firearm being discharged in the community at around 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13.

RCMP and the hamlet urged residents to stay indoors until the situation was resolved.

RCMP say the standoff ended peacefully at around 3 p.m. and a man was arrested without incident.

The man has been charged with discharging a firearm with intent and breach of an undertaking.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25.
