Peaceful resolution to armed conflict in Fort Good Hope, say police

A man is being held in custody pending an ongoing investigation after he discharged a firearm in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., and then barricaded himself inside a residence.

A man is being held in custody after he allegedly discharged a firearm in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., and then barricaded himself inside a residence Friday, said RCMP in a media release.  

The man had fired several shots when police arrived on the scene Friday evening, police say.

RCMP attended the scene and began communicating with the male. After approximately two-and-a-half hours the male emerged from the residence and surrendered himself to police.

Police are not looking for any other suspects in relation to this event. No injuries were reported.

The name of the man in custody or any other identifying factors are not being released at this time.
