Zinc ore to be trucked through Nahanni National Park reserve
Canadian Zinc has received the approval of Parks Canada to truck ore through a national park.
The proposed Prairie Creek Mine is located in the Nahanni National Park Reserve.
This week, Parks Canada issued the last two land and water licenses the company needs to build and use an access road.
The 184-kilometre road will connect the mine to the Liard Highway.
Canadian Zinc is waiting for one more permit to allow full operation of the Prairie Creek mine.
The federal government is expected to issue that water license later this month.
