A major outdoor magazine has named Whitehorse and Carcross, Yukon, the top destinations for mountain biking.

April's issue of Outside Magazine says the area features more than 800 kilometres of trails. It also mentions Boréale Biking of Whitehorse as an operation which offers great tours.

"It's pretty amazing to see a big magazine like Outside Magazine is recognizing Whitehorse and Carcross area as a legit, world-class mountain bike destination. It's amazing," said Sylvain Turcotte, a co-owner of the business.

Turcotte says the recognition comes after years of promotion at trade shows and industry forums. He said it also involved a lot of work - crews have worked for seven years on the trails in Carcross, and four years on the trails in Whitehorse.

Outside Magazine is one of the largest outdoor publications in North America.
