Ontario man found dead in Kluane National Park
A solo Ontario hiker who had planned to spend three nights on the trail in Kluane National Park was instead found dead on Thursday, July 30.
Yoichi Kubota of Cambridge, Ont., was reported overdue on July 29
A solo Ontario hiker who had planned to spend three nights on the trail in Kluane National Park was instead found dead on Thursday, July 30.
Yoichi Kubota, 30, had registered with Parks Canada on July 26 and was hiking alone. The Cambridge, Ont. man was due out on July 29.
When he failed to appear by July 30, parks officials began a search by helicopter. Kubota's body was quickly found, in the Slims River Valley and Observation Mountain area of the park.
RCMP investigators from Haines Junction are working with Parks Canada officials and the Yukon coroner to investigate.
The death is not considered suspicious.
