Const. Kipanik Eegeesiak has been charged with two counts of common assault in connection with a May 16 incident.
Police say Eegeesiak was working general duties at the time of the alleged assaults.
The results of a criminal investigation were passed on to an independent prosecutor, who decided two charges of common assault should be laid.
Common assault is the least serious of three levels of assault in the Criminal Code of Canada.
Eegeesiak makes his first appearance in court Sept. 14. He is currently assigned to administrative duties.
