Northwestel increases Iqaluit's bandwidth by 20%

Northwestel says high speed internet customers in Iqaluit should notice an increase in internet speed particularly at peak times during evenings.

Northwestel announced Thursday it has increased the bandwidth available to high-speed internet customers in Iqaluit by 20 per cent.

In a news release, the company said its technicians spent six weeks on the upgrade, which provides additional satellite capacity during peak times of internet use.

"This upgrade is in response to Iqaluit customer demand. Northwestel is committed to meeting our customer needs in Iqaluit," said Paul Flaherty, president and CEO of Northwestel in the release. 

"We continue to look for innovative ways to expand broadband capability in Nunavut."

The company says high speed internet customers should notice an increase in internet speed immediately particularly at peak times during evenings.
