Yellowknife's road to cabins, campgrounds shut down north of km 38 due to wildfires
N.W.T. Highway 4, also known as the Ingraham Trail, closed Friday at midnight due to forest fires.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources says the closure, which is now north of kilometre 38, is a "precautionary measure."
Reid Lake Territorial Park and Campground at kilometre 60 was also shut down last night. Campers had until midnight to leave.
Officials posted evacuation notices on cabins in the area.
Rain is in the forecast for the weekend, but officials say it's unlikely to be enough to mitigate the fire situation.
