Northwest Territories Premier Bob McLeod is heading to Ottawa to lead Friday's national roundtable about missing and murdered aboriginal women.

The roundtable will include affected family members, representatives from national aboriginal organizations, and members of provincial, territorial and federal governments.

McLeod says the meeting is a good first step, but he wants to see more done.

"I think out of this discussion I would like to see that we establish a national dialogue, that we see more roundtables in the future," he said.

"We have always supported a call for a national inquiry, but I don't see why we can't have this dialogue while still supporting the call for a national inquiry."

The mother of a missing Yellowknife woman, Kathy Meyer, will be joining McLeod in Ottawa. Her daughter, Angela, disappeared in Yellowknife in 2010 after stepping outside her family's home to have a cigarette.
