N.W.T. Highway 3 closed again due to forest fire smoke

After opening for less than three hours Saturday morning, Highway 3 in the Northwest Territories is closed again because of "near zero visibility" due to smoke from nearby forest fires.

The Department of Transportation initially closed the highway between Fort Providence and Edzo Friday night, but reopened it at 10 a.m. Saturday morning with reduced visibility.

But now, the department says there's nearly no visibility and it has to close it again.

The fire causing the smoke in the area is 85,000 hectares and according to Judy McLinton, who's with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, it's going to "be a problem for the next few days."
