N.W.T. outlook

A low pressure system has developed near the Mackenzie Delta and stalled out, meaning persistent precipitation is in the area.

On Monday, a winter storm warning and snowfall warning were issued for the region, with 10-20 cm of snow expected, along with windy weather gusting to 80 km/h.

These blustery conditions should linger through Tuesday, easing tonight.

Light snow and windy weather is also expected along the Arctic coastline towards Paulatuk and Ulukhaktok Tuesday.

Further south, flurries will push through the Sahtu and North Slave region on the back end of a strong low pressure system spinning over northern Ontario.

The South Slave and Dehcho will remain sunny and mild with daily highs near 10 C.

Nunavut outlook

Windy weather has also lingered through the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut over the past 24 hours, with gusts up to 90 km/h in Gjoa Haven. Windy weather will continue in the area Tuesday with gusts to 60 km/h and light flurries.

The Kivalliq will see slightly milder temperatures Tuesday with rain showers expected along the west coast of Hudson Bay.

Cloudy and slushy weather is also in the forecast for Baffin Island, with temperatures remaining near the freezing mark.

Yukon outlook

Most of the Yukon will see clearing conditions through the afternoon Tuesday, after some light flurries in the morning.

Temperatures will remain cool, with milder temperatures near 10 C again by Thursday.

Further north, heavier snow is expected in Old Crow Tuesday, with the instability of that same system bringing wintry weather to the north of the N.W.T.
