Mild earthquake felt in southwest Yukon
The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says there was a 4.17 earthquake in Yukon at 12:24 PT, centred 39 kilometres southeast of Burwash Landing.
Some people in southwest Yukon are reporting feeling a mild earthquake over the lunch hour Tuesday.
The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says there was an earthquake in Yukon at 12:24 PT, centred 39 kilometres southeast of Burwash Landing. It had a magnitude of 4.17.
Luc Garceau was on Sixth Avenue in downtown Whitehorse when he felt the shaking.
"And I checked my plant, big plant, green plant, and it was moving right and left and I said, well this is like an earthquake," he said.
"I checked outside and there was no truck, no snow removal."
Garceau says he became familiar with earthquakes while living in Vancouver.
