Yukon man has several assault convictions on lengthy criminal record
A Yukon Supreme Court judge has ordered that Michael Nehass be assessed for dangerous offender or long-term offender status, under the criminal code.
Dangerous offender status could mean Nehass is sentenced to prison for an indefinite period of time.
Nehass has a lengthy and violent criminal record, including convictions for aggravated assault in 2003 and 2010.
Last May, he was convicted of forcible confinement and assault with a weapon. The assessment will be done before he is sentenced for those convictions.
Nehass is applying to have the convictions set aside.
