Masked suspects sought in attempted Yellowknife robbery
RCMP release surveillance footage in attempt to find suspects
Yellowknife RCMP are seeking the public's help in investigating the attempted robbery of a Yellowknife gas station early Wednesday morning by two suspects shown by surveillance footage to be concealing their faces with hats, scarves and hoods.
The incident took place Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. at the Shell gas station and convenience store on Range Lake Road.
Two suspects entered the station, according to a press release issued Thursday afternoon. One, shown in surveillance footage wearing a black jacket, a pulled-up red scarf and a fur-lined trapper's hat, assaulted the employee behind the counter with what is believed to be pepper spray. The same suspect then jumped over the counter in what police believe is an attempted theft.
The second suspect is shown in the footage wearing a red jacket, black gloves and a white and black hood concealing much of the suspect's face.
Both suspects then fled the store, and RCMP members were unable to locate them.
The store employee was taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.
People with information are asked to call Yellowknife RCMP at 867-669-1111.
