Man found dead in snow by Whitehorse walking trail

A Pelly Crossing man was found dead in the snow by a walking trail in Whitehorse Monday afternoon.

A Pelly Crossing man was found dead in the snow by a walking trail in Whitehorse Monday afternoon.

Whitehorse RCMP say two people walking on the Two Mile Hill trail came upon the man lying in the snow unresponsive and called police.

RCMP and the coroner determined the man was dead.

He has been identified as Robin Sam, 33, of Pelly Crossing. He had been in Whitehorse since Friday.

Police don't know how long Sam's body had been by the trail.

"Indications are he's been there for some time; we don't know how long," said Whitehorse RCMP Const. Dean Hoogland. "Sometime between Friday and the time he was found. The autopsy may determine more of a timeline as to when he passed on."

RCMP continue to investigate along with the coroner's office.

Foul play is not suspected.
