New Nunavut associate deputy minister to co-ordinate suicide prevention efforts
Karen Kilikvak Kabloona named associate deputy minister for quality of life
Nunavut Premier Peter Taptuna has appointed an associate deputy minister for quality of life, to take the lead in co-ordinating the government's efforts in suicide prevention.
Karen Kilikvak Kabloona will work within the Department of Health.
"Prevention and response to suicide does not lie with a single department, and must involve collaboration and action by our partners and our communities," said Taptuna in a news release.
"The associate deputy minister will lead the greater effort to see that all stakeholders and our government are engaged in moving the Nunavut suicide prevention strategy forward, which is key to address change."
Kabloona was previously a senior manager with the Department of Economic Development and Transportation. She steps into her new role on Monday.
