An emergency water shutdown in Iqaluit, Nunavut has continued into its third day, with no end in sight.

An advisory released Monday morning by the City of Iqaluit said that the shutdown, which began Saturday morning when crews discovered a water main leak, is still ongoing.

In the process of fixing the original leak, city workers found additional leaks, the city said Saturday in a news release.

According to the City's announcement, all housing units in the 100s, 200s, and 300s should have water restored, except for units 157, 159, 161, and 163 on Nipisa Street, between Queen Elizabeth Way to Kuugalaaq Street.

"This would include the Department of Education, Ayaya Marketing and Communications, Quick Stop, Video Shack, The Snack, and the Northern Employees Union Hall and Qulliq Energy as well as residential units on this street section," reads the advisory.

The city says the emergency shutdown will continue "until further notice."

Any residents affected by the water shutdown and needing water are asked to call (867) 222-2947 to organize a water truck delivery. Residents who call for a delivery are asked to have their own containers ready to be filled.

The city is also offering water and shower services at the AWG Arena until 9:30 pm Monday night.
