Mould cleanup closes security area at Iqaluit airport
Starting today, passengers who go through security screening may find it a little crowded. The usual security area is closed for repairs.
Temporary security area opens today
For the next two weeks, passengers heading to Montreal or Ottawa from Iqaluit may find the security screening a little crowded.
Airport staff have set up a temporary security area while they deal with mould found in the ceiling of the usual security area.
It follows heavy rains in the capital in July.
The mould "did not and does not pose a risk to the safety and well-being of passengers or staff," a news release says. The area has been sealed off and will be ventilated while work is underway.
Passengers may face longer lineups than usual.
The work should be done by Aug. 19.
